Programs / Projects - Student Intervention Team

WHAT is a Student Response Intervention Team?

A Student Response Intervention Team is a team of teachers, administrators, and support personnel who meet for the purpose of finding learning solutions for students who are experiencing academic or behavioral issues in the general education classroom. SRIT teams are flexible, in that they include a static group of educators to which are added any other people who might have information about a particular student. The SRIT process is based on the Response to Intervention (RtI) model and employs a structured problem-solving process to identify potential causes and solutions for individual students. The process examines data and implements research- based strategies to help students who are not making expected learning gains, whether they be gifted and talented or struggling learners. The SRIT process is a regular education process well aligned with the new Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

HOW do teams receive training?

Centennial BOCES has prepared a team of trainers who are available to provide SRIT training for local districts or BOCES. Training is usually designed as a three-day event, with two days of initial training followed by an additional day approximately three months later.
