Grants - Transition to TeachingIn 2002, Centennial BOCES received a $1.4M federal grant to help recruit, train, and retain teachers through alternative training routes. High-need districts and schools were identified using federally-mandated guidelines. In exchange for teaching in one of these district for three years, candidates receive... - $3,500 in stipends (half paid at the end of each of the first two years)
- two years of mentoring from an on-site mentor
- two years of coaching from a field-based supervisor or coach
- release days for observing other professionals
- college tuition credit paid
