Special Ed - Services
The Special Education Department employs approximately 100 certified and classified staff members who provide services for:
- Occupational Therapy
- Physical Therapy
- Social Work
- Psychologist
- Speech/Language
- Preschool Programs - Collaborate with My Friends and Me, Highland Daycare Center, Faith Preschool, Division of Human Resources, Family Educational Network of Weld County (FENWC), and Milliken Headstart.
- Center-Based Programs - Includes students with significant emotional disabilities and students with severe multiple disabilities in classrooms shared with RE-1, RE-2, RE-5J, RE-7 and RE-9. These students are educated in LaSalle, Gilcrest, Platteville, and Kersey. Transition House for students with severe cognitive needs ages 18-21.
- Transition Services for students with disabilities ages 14 - 21.
- Nursing Services
- SWAP - The School to Work Alliance Program.
- Audiology, Hearing Impaired - Centennial BOCES employs an audiologist and teacher for the deaf who works with the University of Northern Colorado Laboratory School.
- Vision - Centennial BOCES employs a part-time vision specialist to provide screenings and consultation for those students with vision disabilities.
- Child Find - Works with Family Connects and other programs to identify preschool children who are at risk.
- Extended School Year - Provides summer school programs for children identified with the need for additional schooling in the summer.
- Out-of-District - Students are placed in the CEP, Littler Center, Flat Irons Academy, Jefferson Hills, Excelsior, and Kids Ark as well as other residential treatment facilities.
- Provides Educational Support Services for Special Education students enrolled at Weld Opportunity High School.
