Title Programs
Title II Part A-Preparing, Training and Recruiting High Quality Teachers and Principals
The purpose of this program is to increase student academic achievement through strategies such as improving teacher and principal quality and increasing the number of highly qualified teachers, principals and assistant principals. CBOCES works with the districts to ensure that all teachers in the core academic areas will meet the definition of “highly qualified” by the end of the 2005-06 school year.
Title II Part D-Enhancing Education Through Technology
The purpose of this program is to increase the capacity of teachers to integrate educational technology into both curricula and instruction to improve teaching and learning.
Title III Part A-Language Instruction for Limited English Proficient and Immigrant Students
This program uses a formula to allocate funding for districts to provide language instruction and academic support for limited English proficient students. CBOCES supports districts efforts to assess oral language, reading and writing skills in English for all ELL students.
Title IV Part A- Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities
Title IV is a federally funded program that provides funds to school districts to encourage and promote safe and drug-free schools. Districts carry out activities for drug and violence prevention. Activities carried out in the member districts include:
• Services for expelled/suspended students,
• School security resource officers,
• Alcohol and drug awareness courses, and
• Mentoring programs.
Title V Part A-Innovative Programs
This program provides flexible funds to support innovative educational programs. Activities carried out in the member districts include: providing library/media services and materials, purchasing instructional materials, and providing school nurses.
