HOW CAN CBOCES HELP ADMINISTRATORS WITH NCLB? SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT? STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT? 

Administrative Induction Program

  • Meet the Colorado requirement for administrative certification-each administrator must complete an induction program within the first three years of becoming an administrator. CBOCES offers this service to any member district.
  • Receive coaching from a mentor assigned to each new administrator to help coach the new candidate through the rigors of the administrative role.
  • Attend monthly training sessions on topics designed to help guide administrators through the many job responsibilities and the needs identified by the Standards survey.

Walk Through Observations

  • Learn Teachscape's reserch-based brief 5-step classroom observation structure that focuses on determining the curriculum objective being taught, student engagement, and effective teaching practices.
  • Learn to analyze classroom situations for follow-up purposes.
  • Learn how to use reflective questions in follow-up conversations.
  • Practice using the model on school site.
  • Utilize data collection processes to determine curricular and/or instructional needs.

School Improvement Process Training and Coaching

  • Learn methods of analyzing the data to determine the building's strengths and areas for growth.
  • Learn ways to involve the entire building in the school improvement process.
  • Learn how to use data as the building block for making decisions.
  • Examine research on school improvement initiatives / School Improvement Process
  • Examine how new Idea Legistation impacts school improvement with Response to Intervention model.

Research-Based Instructional Strategies

  • Examine research on the leading and proven instructional strategies that can significantly impact student achievement.
  • Receive guidance on acquiring training and implementing these strategies and how they are expected to affect your building efforts in meeting NCLB requirements. Student Intervention Teams

Results Based Staff Development

  • Examine student achievement data for the entire building population as a starting place to examine instructional strategies that would impact performance data
  • Improve learning of all students
  • Deepen educators' content knowledge
  • Provide educators with research-based instructional strategies to assist students in meeting rigorous academic standards.
  • Prepare educators to use various types of classroom assessments to monitor student progress, adjust instruction, and measure results.  standards          

Systems Alignment

  • Align instruction, curriculum, student assessments, staff evaluation, staff development, and budgeting priorities to the same goal(s).
  • Ensure Colorado teaching standards and student achievement standards are embedded in the process.
  • Support mission, vision, and values of the district and buildings.
