Centennial BOCES Director of Federal Programs, Maria Castillo, and Platte Valley School District Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Burmeister were recognized for their outstanding leadership and contributions to cooperative education during the Colorado BOCES Association (CBA) Summer Quarterly Meeting and Awards Banquet on July 7, 2026, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.
Castillo was presented with the Roy G. Brubacher Award, an ongoing award category established in 1994-95 to recognize outstanding BOCES leadership and contributions over five or more years. The award honors BOCES administrators and program directors who demonstrate leadership within their BOCES and member school districts, as well as through the Colorado BOCES Association.
Recipients of the Roy G. Brubacher Award are recognized for their dedicated service to local boards of education, leadership and advocacy for BOCES programs, support for member districts, and efforts to foster cooperation and collaborative problem-solving among multiple school districts.
Burmeister was presented with the Stanley A. Leftwich Award, which recognizes individuals outside of BOCES administration who have made outstanding contributions to cooperative education in Colorado. Past recipients have included superintendents, school board members, Colorado Department of Education personnel, legislators and agency administrators who have provided visible and positive support for the statewide BOCES effort.
As a member district of Centennial BOCES, Platte Valley School District values the collaboration, resources and support provided through the BOCES partnership. The recognition of both Castillo and Burmeister reflects their individual commitment to serving students and schools while strengthening cooperation and educational opportunities across Colorado.
